Lake Woebegone West?

Not unlike Lake Woebegone, Vashon Island has it's own sense of pride, history and values as noted by the sign and t shirt at the Vashon Pharmacy.

Monkey Tree Cafe

The Monkey Tree Cafe is relatively new on Vashon and is setting a high standard for good food, well prepared in a delightful setting - looks like a mini mall but is a warm haven of delicious smells, presentation and service. The owner, Adam is friendly and knowledgeable. It is a 'must stop' if you are nearby.

Rent a Ruminant

Parked just outside Cafe Luna was the car owned by the folks who operate 'Rent a Ruminant.' As noted earlier - Vashon is one 'Green" kind of place and why have a lawn mower or maintain a herd of ruminants when you can have them delivered to and picked up from your house - doing what they do best....

Cafe Luna

Cafe Luna is located in the city center and a great place to meet - good coffee, bakery, WiFi and sandwiches.

Vashon Ferry

Vashon Island is a bit of a place of it's own - small town, mildly eccentric, fiercely 'Green' and gentle in it's clime - it is accessible in many ways. The ferry ride from the mainland Fauntleroy dock to the Island is a lovely transition from 'fast paced' to 'not so fast paced.'

Minneapolis Landmark - of sorts....

The Minneapolis/St. Paul recently received a lot of press as the scene of Senator Larry Craig's unfortunate incident. This picture of Snoopy is right outside the "scene of the incident" - the Men's bathroom. The actual stall is unmarked.

Vashon Island Visit

Vashon Island is located in Puget Sound and is easily reached from the airport (SeaTac) via a 560 bus which gets you to the Vashon Ferry which drops you off at the north side of the island. This picture was taken from the Tahlequah Ferry dock at the south end of the Island. All in all a pretty easy gig as we got a ride in a pick up from the ferry to Vashon Town - pretty friendly folks!

On the Road Again - Heading Southwest

I will be on the road again soon with my destination being Chaco Culture National Historical Park. I found this picture of Fajada Butte taken from the north side of the canyon and look forward to seeing it again in all types of light.
